About the museum
The museum is housed in a palazzo that belonged to the local Cupani family and is now owned by the Municipality of Mirto. The collections, donated by private individuals, comprise over 1,500 items arranged in chronological order: dresses, hats, bodices, lace and accessories that illustrate how Sicilians dressed over more than two centuries, from the wealthier classes to the common people.
The route tells the story of costume not only as an object, but from an anthropological and ethnographic perspective, and allows visitors to imagine the everyday life of a Sicily that has now disappeared.
