About the museum
The museum was founded at Superga in 2002 on the initiative of the Associazione Memoria Storica Granata, which collects, catalogues and preserves objects, photographs, texts and memories, including oral testimonies, connected with the history of Torino. After some years it moved to Villa Claretta-Assandri in Grugliasco, opened to the public over the weekend of 3 and 4 May 2008, 59 years after the air crash at Superga.
The villa dates from the second half of the 17th century and preserves 17th- and 18th-century decorations in the hall and the ground-floor rooms, with painted coffered ceilings and trompe-l’œil perspectives. Across about 650 square metres, a thematic and chronological route combines sport, culture and society through memorabilia, documents and photographs of the Granata history from 1906 to today.
Among the tens of thousands of original pieces are shirts, shoes, balls, players’ personal belongings and objects linked to the history of the club.
