About the museum

The Museo del Lupo Appenninico is the visitor centre of the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise in Civitella Alfedena. It presents a route on the biology, ethology, history and legends of this elusive predator and its relationship with people.

Inside there is an environmental interpretation corner and a photographic exhibition about the park; at the entrance is the information office, which provides guidance for exploring the area, and outside there is an equipped area with tables and benches. Right nearby is the Area Faunistica del Lupo Appenninico, an enclosure of about four hectares where wolves living semi-freely can be seen from various viewing points; the nature trails IN1 and IN2 also start here.

In 2025 the museum was temporarily closed for energy-efficiency works; the wildlife area remained open to visitors, and part of the exhibition was presented at the Centro Culturale Orsa Maggiore, Via Nazionale 45.
