About the museum
The museum holds memorabilia and documents on people and events in Faenza and its surroundings, from 1790, the year Napoleonic troops arrived, to 1945, the end of the Second World War. It is housed in Palazzo Laderchi, on Corso Garibaldi.
The display opens with prints, photographs and a flag from the Risorgimento period, restored thanks to contributions from the Istituto per i Beni Artistici, Culturali e Naturali della Regione Emilia-Romagna and the Comune. In the following rooms appear the faces of the protagonists of Italian unification, including majolica portraits of Aurelio Saffi and Cavour by Angelo Marabini and a terracotta bust of Giuseppe Mazzini by Domenico Baccarini, dated 1900.
In the ballroom, known as the Galleria di Psiche, edicts, documents and portraits from 1794 to Pius IX are displayed, along with a marble bust of Napoleon attributed to Raimondo Trentanove. The last room, the Sala Saviotti, holds paintings, weapons and memorabilia from the first half of the 19th century, with portraits of Achille and Francesco Laderchi and a space devoted to flags and uniforms.
