About the museum
The Museo Torricelliano is housed in Palazzo Laderchi on Corso Garibaldi in Faenza and is dedicated to Evangelista Torricelli. The collection comprises around seventy objects of scientific and historical value, as well as a large collection of prints and diplomas, from donations to the Società Torricelliana or owned by the Comune di Faenza.
The most significant pieces include 19th- and 20th-century barometers, the model of Torricelli’s barometer and models of his telescopes. Scientific instruments from various periods, from the 17th to the 20th century, are also on display, together with a complete iconography of Torricelli, autograph manuscripts by Torricelli and by contemporary scientists, astrolabes and a celestial globe by Coronelli, whose star and constellation labels are in Italian, Latin, French, ancient Greek and Arabic.
