About the museum
The museum is housed in rooms adjoining the sacristy of the church of San Michele Arcangelo, known as the Santuario della Madonna del Buon Consiglio, which were originally a small oratory. It completes the visit to the sanctuary, which became a destination for visitors thanks to the cycle of frescoes painted between 1967 and 1976 by Pietro Annigoni and his pupils.
The church originated in the 16th century as a small oratory dedicated to Saint Joseph. It was rebuilt in 1628 with three naves and a stone portico, and underwent further alterations in the second half of the 19th century. The museum gathers objects linked to the life of the community and of the sanctuary.
The displays include numerous sacred vestments from the 17th and 18th centuries, several 17th-century statues, 18th-century reliquaries, candlesticks, sacred vessels, crosses, coins and devotional cards, as well as some old texts, including an 1832 edition of I Promessi Sposi.
