About the museum
The museum, which presents itself as the first in Europe entirely dedicated to thermal resources, is housed in the Villa Draghi complex in Montegrotto Terme. It tells the story of the use of the area's thermal waters, documented as early as the 7th century BC and developed by the Romans from the 3rd century BC onwards, and of their links with geology, medicine, archaeology and history.
The rediscovery of the spas dates back to the late eighteenth century, largely thanks to the work of Salvatore Mandruzzato, “Dei bagni di Abano”. In the 1990s a luxurious Roman villa was also identified along Via Neroniana.
The route is organised into sections on mineral waters, ancient thermalism, the Euganean spas, architecture and archaeology, and the rediscovery of the baths. Original finds, reproductions and multimedia installations include bronze statuettes, miniature vases and materials from nearby archaeological sites. The museum is suitable for children, families and specialists.
