About the museum
The museum presents the Gola del Furlo, a protected area in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in an integrated way: it combines geographical, geomorphological and natural aspects with history, architecture and local culture. Its central theme is the relationship between people and the mountain, which shaped both the natural and the human history of the gorge.
The Riserva naturale statale Gola del Furlo, established by decree of the Ministry of the Environment on 6 February 2001, covers about 3,900 hectares across Acqualagna, Cagli, Fermignano, Fossombrone and Urbino and is managed by the provincial administration.
