About the museum
The Museo del Tesoro was created to make accessible the artworks and liturgical furnishings produced over the centuries for the collegiate parish of Sant'Eulalia and for the churches of Santo Sepolcro and Santa Lucia. It is now part of the Mutseu museum system, which also includes the archaeological area below. It is located in the Marina district of Cagliari, in Vico del Collegio.
The objects on display, from different periods and of various types, bear witness to the cultural, social and economic vitality of the city and the district between the 16th and 19th centuries, with particular reference to the archconfraternities, which commissioned most of the pieces. The display is divided into sections devoted to paintings, sculptures, silverware and vestments.
Among the works are an Ecce Homo in oil on canvas, painted on both sides; a Tuscan Madonna and Child of the 14th century; a wooden Nostra Signora dei Derelitti from the late 16th century; and the embroidered vestment from the mid-17th century known as “Pianeta della Passione”. The historic archive holds the parish registers and the documents of the archconfraternities of the Santissimo Sacramento and of Santa Lucia, from the 16th to the early 20th century, and documents the religious, economic and social life of the Marina.
