Museo del Turismo

About the museum

The Museo del Turismo was promoted by the Municipal Administration of Limone sul Garda to document the socio-economic change in the village after the opening of the Gardesana road (1929-1931), which connected Limone with Gargnano and Riva. In little more than fifty years the village of fishermen and olive growers became one of the most visited tourist centres on Lake Garda.

The museum is housed in the former town hall, in Via Comboni, and opened in 2011. It collects documents, images and testimonies linked to the birth and development of tourism: posters, calendars, travel guides and souvenirs.

Ample space is also given to San Daniele Comboni, born in Limone, and to the discovery of Apolipoprotein A1-Milano, a beneficial genetic mutation that protects against heart attacks and cardiovascular disease, identified in the blood of some villagers.
