About the museum
The Museo del Viaggio Fabrizio De André opened on 7 October 2011 in the regular municipal camp in Rogoredo, via Impastato 7, Milan. It was founded by the Bezzecchi family together with Opera Nomadi Milano and the Cooperativa Romano Drom, with support from Fondazione Cariplo. The name recalls Fabrizio De André, with whom Giorgio Bezzecchi worked on the album “Anime salve”.
The museum occupies a specially renovated and furnished room inside the camp and is also a documentation, research and study centre. It holds books, photographs, writings, audiovisual materials, theses and a list of websites. Courses in Romani and Sinti language and culture and a music school take place here. The historical route begins with a restored traditional Romani caravan and, with audiovisual support, traces the history of the community from the early 20th century to the present. The collection also includes a series of twenty costumes, each representing a different community.
The museum mainly welcomes school groups, students, researchers and visitors by appointment. The information published online dates from 2011-2012 and has not been updated: before any visit, please write or call to confirm availability.
