About the museum
The museum occupies a former turnery of the Maulini family, active since 1886, in the historic centre of Pettenasco, a few steps from the Casa Medievale and the Piazza del Municipio. The building is one of the mills, known as “fabbriche”, that rose in Pettenasco from the mid-19th century along the millrace fed by the Pescone stream and were turned into turning workshops.
Wood turning was a typical activity of the Cusio, the area of Lake Orta, up to the 1950s. The museum documents turned objects and, in a dedicated section, preserves the original tools and machines of the workshop.
The display is on a single floor. The museum is run by the Pro Loco di Pettenasco, organises exhibitions, events, guided tours and educational workshops, and also houses a tourist information office in the same building.
