About the museum
The museum is housed in a former oil mill restored in local stone, in the oldest part of the centre of Zagarise, and is one of the ecomuseums of the Sila National Park. More than a traditional museum, it is conceived as an ecomuseum, built around three elements: the territory, the local population and the heritage that the community recognises as precious.
Its aims are to make known the material and immaterial culture of the Sila Piccola, to promote the area for cultural, nature and sports tourism, and to connect heritage, environment and food and wine traditions. The museum is part of a tourist circuit that includes the nearby Grotta dei briganti (Brigands’ Cave).
