About the museum
The Museo delle carrozze documents the evolution of non-motorised means of transport through 25 period pieces. It is located in Catanzaro, in the Siano district, in contrada Monte Musofalo, in a building with a medieval appearance.
Most of the carriages on display come from England. The collection also includes carriages of the Neapolitan upper middle class, a 17th-century parade wagon, the calesse (light two-wheeled carriage) used on set in the film “Via col vento” (Gone with the Wind) and a cabriolet with folding hood by the Carrozzeria Cesare Sala. A piano from the 18th century is also on display in the building.
The museum includes a permanent display of farm tools.
