About the museum
The museum is located on the farm of Dr Giorgio Zampa, in an oil mill built in 1937 in place of an earlier mill powered by animals, and has always been owned by the family. It illustrates the traditional production of extra virgin olive oil through machinery that is preserved and working.
Among the exhibits are stone millstones, hydraulic presses, settling tanks and other equipment. The museum is also gathering tools, implements and objects that document other aspects of rural life in the Montiferru. The Museo dell’olio is part of the Monumenti Aperti routes in Cuglieri.
