About the museum
The Museo della Battaglia del Senio was founded on 10 April 1981 to collect and preserve memories and documents of the wartime events of 1944–45 in Romagna. It tells the story of the front along the Senio river, the most advanced point of the Allied line between December 1944 and April 1945.
The narrative is organised in thematic sections – the soldiers, the civilians, the partisans and the territory – and shows how the war changed the landscape and everyday life. Photographs, weapons, uniforms, flags and panels commemorate soldiers from five continents, the Jewish Brigade, women in the Resistance and the civilian population.
The visit includes a documentary of about 30 minutes, a reconstructed air-raid shelter and a 360-degree immersive room. The municipal library and the archive of the Istituto storico della Resistenza are housed in the same building.
