About the museum
The museum is a small local history collection dedicated to the cobbler’s trade, which was traditionally widespread in Gargallo. It is housed on the first floor of the former Casa Comunale (town hall) in Piazza San Pietro, and was set up to preserve local traditions at risk of being forgotten.
The route follows the trade from its origins to the present day, with work tools, photographs and documents from the 19th and 20th centuries; each tool had a precise function and its own name in dialect. The display was set up with the advice of Armando Pollini, director of the Museo della Scarpa di Vigevano. The museum is run together with the civic library. On the ground floor of the same building is the Museo della Fornace.
