About the museum
The museum opened in 2000 and was rearranged in 2014: the work expanded the collections and made the visit easier. It is part of the Sistema Proust, the museum network of the Lazio Region.
On 18 September 2015 it was named after the Syrian archaeologist Khaled al-Asaad, and in the same year it obtained the Quality Mark of the Lazio Region.
The route follows a chronological order: from prehistory and protohistory it moves to the pre-Roman and Roman periods and then to the Middle Ages. One section is devoted to Roman funerary culture, with the chariot sarcophagus of the 3rd century AD, while the last part presents the patron saints of the town.
