About the museum
The Historiale di Cassino is presented as the first example in Italy of a new way of telling history, based on the combined use of different forms of expression. The museum is dedicated to the four battles of Cassino in 1944 and to the memory of the events of the Gustav Line.
The route was recently renewed with work funded by the PNRR (Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan). Measures were taken to remove architectural and sensory barriers, including a tactile floor route, audio descriptions in six languages and content accessible through QR codes.
The four great itineraries of the Gran Percorso della Memoria start from the museum, a journey through the present by way of the places where the fighting took place. In the museum park is also the Sala Atelier, named after the special-effects master Carlo Rambaldi.
