About the museum
The Museo della Civiltà Contadina Casa Dei is located in Larciano, inside a two-storey farmhouse. It is run by the Casa Dei association, with the support of the municipalities of Larciano and Monsummano Terme.
The collection includes numerous agricultural implements and objects linked to rural life from the early 20th century, organised into sections. Alongside preserving tools that are no longer in use, the museum aims to help visitors understand the relationship between place, rural landscape and the activities of farming life in former times, keeping memory and experience alive.
The museum stands in the Padule di Fucecchio, an area of great natural interest. In the surroundings there are walking routes along the Torrente Bagnolo and the Canale Usciana, the equipped Vincio Vecchio trail, the Giardino della Meditazione dedicated to the victims of the 1944 Padule massacre (eccidio del Padule), and the Fattoria medicea di Stabbia (Medici farm). In addition to guided tours, the association offers boat trips on barchini (small flat-bottomed boats) and visits to a sheep and goat farm.
