About the museum
The museum is set up in the Baglio Florio, an ancient fortified farmhouse with a large courtyard which, until the end of the 19th century, housed farm workers employed all year round or seasonally on the surrounding estate, and had lodgings, stables and storerooms for the harvests. The walls of rubble masonry bound with mortar are up to 150 cm thick.
The restoration of the building, financed with European funds, made it possible to allocate part of the old lodgings to a collection of objects from local farming culture. Traditional trades are represented, including those that have disappeared, from the fisherman to the carpenter, from the blacksmith to the rope-maker.
The museum is next to the Cave di Cusa archaeological park and is part of the Rete Museale e Naturale Belicina (Belicina museum and nature network). The audio guide can be accessed on the izi.TRAVEL platform.
