About the museum
The museum was established and opened in 1995 and reopened in 1998. It received regional-interest recognition from Campania in 2009, and in 2021 it entered the “Terra di Lavoro” museum system. It occupies part of the refectory of the former Real Convitto di Santa Maria delle Grazie, next to the town hall, and includes a multipurpose hall called the “Salone borbonico” (Bourbon Hall) for cultural initiatives.
The collection documents the pre-industrial rural and craft life of the area with tools, implements, furnishings and clothing made largely 70 to 100 years before 1970. The route has nine sections spread over four rooms, as well as a flexible space for temporary exhibitions.
Among the most interesting pieces are the tools for working wood and fields, those for hemp and for winemaking, a grain measure dated 1831, an 18th-century Neapolitan Nativity scene and a bronze bell of 1627.
