About the museum
The Brunello Museum, also dedicated to the community of Montalcino, was conceived by Stefano Cinelli Colombini and is housed in the Fattoria dei Barbi, a few kilometres from Montalcino. It covers over 1,000 square metres and brings together objects, photographs, documents and videos that illustrate the roots of one of the world's best-known wines.
The first section is devoted to the community of Montalcino before Brunello: old crafts, sharecropping life, furniture, toys, agricultural tools and documents tell the story of everyday life in the past. The second traces the history of Brunello, from its origins thanks to the pioneers to the vineyard, the cellar and the terroir, with hundreds of labels showing the variety of the territory.
The visit ends with the Labirinto del Brunello, an exhibition of more than 200 bottles from the cellars of Montalcino. The museum is visited on a guided tour in Italian or English, always by appointment.
