About the museum
The museum was founded in 1993 on the initiative of researcher Michele Rak and is housed in a building dating from 1901, originally built as the municipal slaughterhouse. The collection is organised into three areas: everyday life, sheep farming and the craft of the shoemaker.
The exhibition tells the story of the traditional world of Scanno and the Sagittario valley, in particular the pastoral economy and the processing of wool and hides, and emphasises the value of transhumance as a cultural landscape worth protecting.
