About the museum
The museum, also known as “I racconti di Numeria”, was founded in 1999 and was the first Italian museum of mathematics commissioned and run by the Sovrintendenza ai Beni Culturali (Cultural Heritage Office) of Rome. It was originally housed in the Department of Mathematics of La Sapienza University, where it was long based and where lectures and meetings still take place.
The exhibition venue is the building known as “il Castelletto”, within Villa Sciarra on the Janiculum. The museum is temporarily closed for restoration works, and no reopening date has been found.
