About the museum
The Certosa di Pesio was founded in 1173. After it was closed under French occupation in 1802, it was converted into a climatic health resort. From 1934 the Consolata Missionaries led its revival and renovation; today it is a centre for spirituality and missionary outreach.
The museum occupies several rooms adjoining the charterhouse and holds handicrafts, stuffed animals and curiosities from Africa, the Middle East and South America, the lands where the missionaries work. The same site also has a fauna section with stuffed animals from the area.
