About the museum
The museum is housed in a room attached to the town hall, in the old fortress of San Polo d'Enza. It mainly collects photographs and documents on the partisan struggle in the area, which linked the units operating in the plain with those in the hills.
Most of the material on display comes from the private archive of Massimiliano Villa, partisan commander and head of the 143rd Garibaldi Brigade, an important coordinating figure in the territories along the Enza. Alongside images of individual partisans and groups are original sheets of communications between the detachments and panels with the honours awarded to figures of the local Resistance. Other images document the celebrations of 25 April (Liberation Day), the unveiling of monuments and the initiatives through which the community keeps the memory alive.
