About the museum
The museum is housed in the oldest ironworks of Ronciglione, in Via delle Cartiere, and was inaugurated on 19 December 2015 after the building was rediscovered and restored. It tells the industrial, economic and social history of the town, which from the early 15th century was one of the most active centres of iron production in the Papal States, with fifteen ironworks along the Rio Vicano.
In the 1960s the ironworks of Via delle Cartiere employed over thirty workers; it was the last of the town’s ironworks to close, in 1992.
On 5 February 2023 a section devoted to typography and printing was added, with the collection of the master printer Alfredo Mancinelli, which includes printing machines, some of them recent, and a 19th-century press for screen prints, copperplate prints and etchings, made available together with Pietro Perelli.
