About the museum

The permanent exhibition is in the cloister of the church of San Francesco in Loro Piceno and is municipally owned. The route consists of a series of installations and multimedia tools that take visitors into the atmosphere of past society.

The visit begins with the section on vino cotto, a local speciality made through a slow boiling process and flavoured with quince (mele cotogne). Among the tools and objects on display are wicker and cane baskets, wooden crates, the press and more specialised tools such as the fornacchiola and the schiumarola (skimmer).

In the same cloister is also the Museo interattivo della tradizione locale, which uses multimedia tools to tell the story of Loro Piceno’s traditions, personalities, town band and farming practices.
