About the museum
The museum is located in Madonna di Campiglio, in the municipality of Pinzolo, and is dedicated to the history of mountaineering and to those who lived and worked in this part of the Brenta Dolomites. It preserves the memory of the alpine guides who helped discover the Brenta Dolomites and took distinguished guests into the mountains in the first holiday seasons.
The exhibition brings together photographs, testimonies and work tools of guides and climbers. Among the figures remembered is Bruno Detassis, known as “il Bruno”, a celebrated climber who for decades ran the Brentei hut (rifugio Brentei) with his family.
Alongside the history of mountaineering, the museum also tells the life of the people of Campiglio, linking the theme of the mountains to that of the local community.
