About the museum
The museum occupies the top floors of the old Torre Civica of Castellucchio, in the province of Mantua, in the central square of the town. The collection came to the municipality in 1987 as a bequest from Dr Fosco Baboni, a passionate collector of weapons.
The collection numbers around 120 pieces, divided between edged weapons and firearms, and is arranged in three strands: weapons of the Risorgimento period, exotic weapons from Latin America and First World War memorabilia.
Among the most significant pieces are a pointed morion of the 16th century and a 17th-century war spontoon, both hand-forged and used by Renaissance infantry, as well as three swords from the early 19th century, some bayonets and a Piedmontese sabre of a horse artillery officer.
