About the museum
The museum holds the collection built from works acquired through the Premio Termoli, a contemporary art prize founded in 1955 that quickly established itself among Italian artists and critics. The holdings comprise over 470 works, mainly paintings on canvas, alongside sculptures made with various techniques and materials.
The collection documents artistic research from post-Informel to abstraction, from new figuration to kinetic and programmed art. Artists represented include Carla Accardi, Mirella Bentivoglio, Dadamaino, Tano Festa, Achille Perilli, Gastone Novelli, Mario Schifano, Giulio Turcato and Giuseppe Uncini.
The museum is run by the MACTE Foundation, a non-profit body established in Termoli in February 2019, which promotes and enhances the collection, organises exhibitions and develops cultural and research partnerships with national and international institutions.
