About the museum
The museum, set up at the end of the 1980s, gathers sacred art from the churches of the area of the present municipality of Barberino Tavarnelle. It is housed in four rooms on the first floor of the rectory, next to the Pieve di San Pietro in Bossolo.
The first two rooms are the most important and are each dedicated to one of the two pievi (parish districts) from which the works come: that of San Pietro in Bossolo and that of San Donato in Poggio. They display paintings by Meliore di Jacopo, Neri di Bicci, Ugolino di Nerio, the Maestro di Tavarnelle and other Tuscan artists, as well as fine goldsmith’s works, among which stands out a processional cross of the 13th century.
