About the museum
The Museo di arte sacra di Fiumalbo is an ecclesiastical museum set up in the nave of a church in the village, in piazza Umberto I. It collects paintings, goldsmithing, sacred furnishings and liturgical vestments from the churches and confraternities of the community.
Among the main works are an 18th-century gilded high altar, attributed to carvers from the circle of the Ceretti of Reggio, and a carved and gilded wooden altarpiece dating from 1622. Also on display are a Madonna and Child with saints by Saccaccino Saccaccini, a 19th-century statue of the Addolorata (Our Lady of Sorrows) carried in procession during Holy Week, and the liturgical books of the confraternities.
A 19th-century organ by Nicomede Agati is used for concerts. Of the bell tower, which collapsed in 1920 in an earthquake, two 18th-century bells survived and are kept in the museum.
