About the museum
The natural history museum in Guardabosone grew out of a private collection founded by Carlo Locca. It is known above all for its fauna section, which comprises over two thousand specimens, some of them non-European species, alongside Stone Age finds and hundreds of stuffed animals.
The entomology section is being set up, and the museum has multimedia stations. Next to the building is a small zoo with animals such as ostriches, llamas and deer, and the site also includes an old wine cellar. The museum is part of the dispersed museum offer of the “paese-museo” (village museum) of Guardabosone, together with the Casa dei mestieri and the other museums in the village.
