About the museum
The museum is housed in Palazzo Sardi on Via Angeloni in Sulmona, in the same building as the Comunità Montana Peligna. It extends over seven rooms on two floors.
On the first floor, the first two rooms hold an insect collection, largely from the area managed by the Comunità Montana: among other insects, stick insects, bees, butterflies, bumblebees, moths, scorpions and cockroaches. The next two rooms contain a recently installed palaeontological collection, with ammonites, horse remains and an ichthyosaur.
On the second floor, three rooms present a large collection of minerals from all known classes, including orpiment, realgar, opal, cuprite, quartz, pyrite, zircon and agate, as well as numerous geodes. Along the ramp leading to the upper floor, images of animals are on display.
