About the museum
The Didactic Museum of Prehistoric Art and Life in Capo di Ponte, in the hamlet of Cemmo, is a museum-laboratory founded and run by the prehistoric archaeologist and ethnoarchaeologist Ausilio Priuli, a scholar of the rock art of Val Camonica.
It is not a traditional museum: visitors can interact with the objects, handle them and try to repeat the actions of people of the past in the experimental archaeology laboratory. Casual visitors, groups and school classes, accompanied by the archaeologist or his collaborators, retrace more than ten thousand years of prehistory.
The museum also organises guided tours lasting one or more days to the archaeological, artistic and natural sites of Val Camonica, including the Parco nazionale delle incisioni rupestri di Naquane, and educational workshops on the rock engravings.
