About the museum
The San Carlo Didactic Archaeological Museum was founded in 2010 in the chapel of San Carlo, inside the Palazzo Corte dell’Orologio, a bequest of the Borromeo nobles and considered the oldest building in Castegnate, a hamlet of Castellanza. The chapel was converted into a didactic museum by the Gruppo di studio e ricerca archeologica di Castellanza (study and archaeological research group of Castellanza).
It houses archaeological remains collected in the area and displays models that show the historical development of the municipal territory, together with replicas of prehistoric, protohistoric, Roman and Lombard artefacts. It is a venue designed above all for education and for making local history known.
