About the museum
The Museo e giardini di Pitagora presents itself as the city's first open-air museum devoted to science, mathematics and philosophy, where art, culture and history intertwine. It was founded in 2011 in Crotone, the city where, according to tradition, Pythagoras founded his school.
The museum building houses the interactive mathematics exhibition Ludomatica, described as the only one in southern Italy, the collection Pitagora Docet with works by the artists awarded at the Premio Pitagora 2015, and the Processi section, dedicated to contemporary artists of the second half of the 20th century.
The park, covering 18 hectares, includes 17 installations of a mathematical, philosophical and scientific character, partly inspired by the thought of Pythagoras and other philosophers. The museum also organises exhibitions, book presentations, debates, theatre performances and tastings of local products.
