About the museum
The museum occupies part of the first floor of Palazzo Varo, a 16th-century building that belonged to the Abbazia dell’Angelo, later a convent of the Monache Bianche and, in the 1960s, the premises of a lower secondary school. In the 1970s some rooms were used to store archaeological finds and museum objects.
The collections, largely donated and catalogued by volunteers, span from the Neolithic to the mid-20th century: bronze and flint tools, pottery, Roman oil lamps, tomb decorations and fragments of a 10th-century mosaic floor, found by farmers while working in the fields. They are joined by sacred objects from the parish and by farm tools and household implements of local rural life.
