About the museum
The Epicentro Museum was created in 1994 by the artist Nino Abbate, in a converted rural house in contrada Gala, a short distance from the centre of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. It is a small contemporary art museum whose collection consists of painted terracotta tiles by more than nine hundred Italian and foreign artists.
Alongside the works, the museum holds documents on the main Italian artistic movements from the postwar period to the present, including Neorealismo, Pop Art, Fluxus and Nuovo Futurismo. It is listed on the ministry’s portal of contemporary places (Luoghi del contemporaneo).
