About the museum
The Enological Museum grew out of the wine-growing tradition of the Grasso family, active since 1887, to preserve a historical memory that would otherwise have been lost. It is located in Milazzo, next to the cellar of the company Feudo Solaria – Cantine Grasso.
The ancient tools are collected and catalogued according to the stages of production, from the fields to the cellar. There are also rooms linked to the world of wine, such as the cooper’s workshop, which has almost disappeared, and an old laboratory for the first oenochemical analyses of musts and wines.
The proximity of museum and cellar allows visitors to walk through three centuries of Sicilian wine history in a few steps, from hand tools to modern automated machinery.
