About the museum
The museum is housed in the birthplace of the poet Antioco Casula, known by the pen name Montanaru, one of the best-known voices of Sardinian poetry in the first half of the 20th century. The house is now an ethnographic museum.
The rooms hold traditional costumes, tools used in local productive activities, everyday objects and the poet’s personal library, with his correspondence. The regional tourism portal lists it, together with the Casa museo Carta, among the must-see visits in Desulo.
A literary prize for Sardinian poets bears Montanaru’s name. It is awarded every year in Desulo during the event “La Montagna Produce”, as part of Autunno in Barbagia.
