About the museum
The Museo etnografico cerignolano preserves the material memory of the community of Cerignola and its agricultural hinterland. Over the years the collection has moved several times and is now housed in a 19th-century palazzo in the town.
The objects, around two thousand of them, are catalogued in chronological order and organised into various sections: cereal farming, rural life, vanished artisan trades, pastoralism, minor sacred art, confraternities, the municipal police, 19th- and 20th-century clothing, coins, heraldry, inscriptions, letters and ancient texts, weights and measures, and schools.
Among the material are devotional images, bells and figures of popular religiosity, work tools and costumes of rural life. The collection of objects is complemented by an archive of texts and documents.
