About the museum
The Museo civico etnografico del Pinerolese documents the material and intangible culture of the traditional communities of the plain and the valleys around Pinerolo, with objects from the late 19th century to the 1950s. It is part of the city’s museum system and is housed in the basement of Palazzo Vittone.
The display is divided into two parts. The first is devoted to domestic life, with models of mountain and hill houses and reconstructed rooms of a mountain house lived in all year round, including a kitchen and a cowshed. The second presents traditional work, with tools, benches and machinery of the farmer, miller, blacksmith, scale maker, winegrower, farrier, silkworm breeder, carpenter and miner.
One room is dedicated to Agostino Pons, author of scale reproductions of houses, factories and places of work in the area.
