About the museum
The Museo etnografico di Roseto Capo Spulico, once known as the museum of rural civilisation, is located in the heart of the historic centre, inside the small Castello Lillo. It holds over two thousand work tools used by local craftspeople, objects dating back to earlier centuries that preserve the memory of village life.
Among the exhibits are the workbench of a carpenter from the mid-19th century, a cobbler’s bench with all the tools of the trade, a loom from the second half of the 17th century, the complete equipment of a blacksmith and a barber, the instruments of Roseto’s old town band, a very old typewriter and the traditional laid table around which families once ate from a single dish.
The display has no archaeological character: it takes visitors on a journey of more than two centuries back into the everyday rural and artisan life of the community.
