About the museum
The museum, opened in 2002, is set up in the Case Piavone, a rural complex whose original core dates from the late 17th century, in the Storga river natural park on the northern outskirts of Treviso. The buildings have been restored and converted into a multi-purpose facility, which also houses the Gruppo Folcloristico Trevigiano, with which the museum is run.
The collection aims to preserve and promote the local heritage relating to history, economy, work, everyday life, folklore, dialects, costumes and customs of the community of the Marca Trevigiana, documenting both the objects and working techniques and the social and anthropological contexts in which they were used.
The museum offers educational workshops for schools of every level, with different programmes for different aims and content, and has a teaching room, multimedia stations and a conference hall.
