About the museum
The Ethnographic Museum of Sant’Antioco, known as “Su Magasinu de su Binu”, is located in the centre of the town, along the route that links the Basilica of Sant’Antioco, the Archaeological Museum and the Tofet area.
The collections tell of the island’s uses and crafts, in particular the working of dwarf palm and marine bisso and the natural dyeing of fabrics. There are also tools for bread-making, cheese-making, viticulture and winemaking, agricultural implements and tools for the trades of the carpenter, butcher and farrier.
In the courtyard the Sardinian carts are preserved: the ox cart, the donkey cart and the horse cart. The bisso tools were also presented in a temporary exhibition at the Natural History Museum of Basel.
