About the museum
The museum was founded in the late 1970s and renovated in 2018 with the help of volunteers; in 2026 it received new digital and interactive content. It is on the first floor of a former school building in the hamlet of San Martino and tells the story of mountaineering, the natural and geological environment and the traditions of the valley.
The route is divided into sections: historical-mountaineering, with the discovery of the valley, mountaineering and mountain rescue; natural history, with a diorama of local fauna and flora; mineralogical, with a rich and carefully catalogued collection of minerals; ethnographic, with a reconstructed farmhouse of the early 20th century, furnished interiors and antique agricultural and craft tools; and digital, with virtual reality viewers, video stories, a 3D relief model and 3D objects.
