About the museum
The museum is housed in a palazzo in the historic centre of Frontino and is part of the Rete museale del Montefeltro. It is dedicated to Franco Assetto (1911–1993), an artist born in Turin who donated much of his output to the municipality of Frontino.
Among the works commemorated are “Il Divin Bambino” (1952), “La settimana” (1963), “Scultura d'acqua” (1971), “Via Sierra Bonita” (1977) and “Merletti” (1978). From 1984 Assetto devoted himself to jewellery, ceramics and enlarged sculptures of small sweets, which he called “The Big Candy”. His work moves between Surrealism, ethnic art and matter-based Informel, and he is regarded as a precursor of Pop Art.
The artist also made three fountains for the communities of Frontino and Piandimeleto, located north of the centre, on the road to the Montefiorentino convent and at San Sisto.
